What is Weydeland 48+ Graskaas?
Weydeland 48+ Graskaas is made from the first milk from cows that eat fresh spring grass again after winter. This special seasonal cheese is only available in May and June and is known for its exceptionally creamy and soft character.
Taste and texture
Graskaas is loved for its fresh and creamy character:
- Extra creamy and soft
- Fresh and mild taste
- Deliciously creamy dairy
- Lightly sweet and full of aroma
- Beautiful golden-yellow color
Thanks to the young spring grass, the milk contains softer fats, which creates the characteristic creaminess that graskaas is so well known for.
Why is graskaas so special?
When the cows go out into the pasture again after a long winter, they eat fresh, tender grass full of natural nutrients. This first milk of the season gives the cheese its unique taste, creamy texture, and sunny yellow color. It is a true spring delicacy that cheese lovers look forward to every year.
What do you use Weydeland 48+ Graskaas for?
This young cheese is delicious:
- On fresh bread or a crispy cracker
- On the cheese board
- In fresh salads
- On a grilled cheese sandwich
- Just straight from the block
Thanks to its soft and creamy taste, it is a favorite with almost everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cut the cheese yourselves?
Yes, we cut all the cheeses ourselves—and only when the order comes in. That way, they always stay fresh.
Can you ship cheese?
Yes, (Weydeland) cheese can be shipped without any problems, provided it is packaged properly. This is why we always vacuum-pack the cheese and include free cheese paper to extend its shelf life.
How can I keep cheese fresh for as long as possible?
Take the vacuum-packed cheese out of the refrigerator one hour before consumption and allow it to come to room temperature. Once the cheese is at room temperature, open the packaging and discard it. After (partially) consuming the cheese, wrap it in the provided cheese paper. Then refrigerate the cheese again. Once the cheese has been finished, discard the cheese paper to prevent cross-contamination.
Is your cheese lactose-free?
Yes and no. Some cheeses contain lactose and others do not. The entire Weydeland range is lactose-free and can therefore be eaten by people with lactose intolerance. Do you have questions about which cheeses contain lactose? Then contact us!
Where does Weydeland cheese come from?
Weydeland cheese is made from milk from the North Holland Beemster polder. Cono makes the cheese, and then the cheese is aged in the Treur Kaas warehouse in Woerden. Here, the cheese lies on wooden shelves aging until it reaches the proper stage of maturation.
